Dr. Jerome L. Fleg Appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jerome L. Fleg has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine (ISSN: 1530-6550). His term started in June 2022.

Dr. Jerome L. Fleg is a Medical Officer at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in Bethesda, MD. After receiving his MD from the University of Cincinnati, he completed training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Fleg has spent his entire professional career at the National Institutes of Health, first at the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and later at NHLBI. At NIA, he headed human cardiovascular (CV) studies in the Intramural Research Program from 1977 to 2002. His research focused on defining normative aging changes in CV structure and function and their relationship to future disease outcomes, based largely on participants in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging (BLSA). A major focus of his laboratory was the elucidation of age-associated changes in aerobic capacity and its determinants in collaboration with cardiologists and exercise physiologists from Johns Hopkins University. He was also the Acting Director of the BLSA from 1998 to 2001. Since joining the NHLBI in 2002, Dr. Fleg has focused on designing and implementing multicenter clinical trials in patients with CV disease. He is coeditor of the textbook Cardiovascular Disease in the Elderly, now in its 5th edition, the Editor-in-Chief of Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine and an editorial board member of multiple CV journals.
