Abstract

Contribution to the study over the interactions between drugs and oral contraceptives. Many recent works have shown interactions between oral steroid contraceptives and other drugs; Authors have noticed, in 9 women “on the pill”, menstrual disorders (spotting, bleeding), symptoms of hormonal deficiency, and in two of them even a pregnancy, after administra-tion of oral antibiotics. The contraceptive failure ough to be correlated to alteration of gut bacteria determined by anti-biotics, which interfere with enterohepatic circu-lation and absorption of contraceptive steroids.
