Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In this special issue, "New Frontiers in Matrix Metalloproteinases: Expanding Our Understanding of Their Roles in Cancer" we aim to bring together the latest research, reviews, and perspectives on the diverse and evolving roles of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in cancer development and progression. By focusing on novel findings, emerging trends, and innovative approaches, this issue seeks to advance our understanding of the complex interplay between extracellular and intracellular actions of MMPs and the tumor microenvironment, as well as their impact on cancer initiation, growth, migration, invasion and therapeutic resistance.

Contributions to this special issue will cover a wide range of topics related to MMPs in cancer, from molecular mechanisms, gene expression regulation and signaling pathways to translational research and clinical applications. We welcome original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and expert opinion that present new insights into the multifaceted functions of MMPs, highlight recent breakthroughs in MMP-targeted therapies, and discuss challenges and opportunities in the development of more effective and perhaps personalized cancer treatments.

Finally, by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and promoting the dissemination of cutting-edge research, this special issue aims to inspire further exploration of MMPs and their potential as therapeutic targets, ultimately contributing to improved cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, reviews as well as short communications are preferred. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 2500 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
