Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an ancient and unconventional medicinal technique. Research and development in the PDT field has been reinforced in novel therapeutic applications. PDT is recognized for its gentle, rapid results following a single treatment. Over time, PDT has been accepted as a clinical method in cancer treatment with porphyrin-like photosensitizers. So-called photodynamic action facilitates the fast photooxidation and killing/inactivation of target cells (malignances, pathogens, etc.). PDT involves three non-harmful components: a non-toxic photosensitizer in the absence of light, a suitable light spectrum in the visible and far-red range, and environmental oxygen. PDT remains a subject of intensive research, focused on advancing photosensitizers, light sources, and addressing unique pathological conditions with no other cure. The aim of this Special issue is to gather the latest insights in the field of experimental PDT, focusing on photobiological phenomenon, procedural dependencies, and outcomes for target cells. Research papers concerning biomedical PDT applications using novel photosensitizing agents are especially welcome. Original research studies in the fields of photobiology and experimental PDT are greatly appreciated and prioritized.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online editorial system at https://imr.propub.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to start your submission. Manuscripts can be submitted now or up until the deadline. All papers will go through peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published in the journal (as soon as accepted) and meanwhile listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, reviews as well as short communications are preferred. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office to announce on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts will be thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Please visit the Instruction for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) in this open access journal is 2500 USD. Submitted manuscripts should be well formatted in good English.
